Jewelle Gittens: Author, Poet, Creative

My purpose is to write and be written

Who we are

Jewelle L. Gittens, more affectionally known as “JewJew” ,entered the world in 2002 on the beautiful island of Antigua, where she was raised by her devoted Christian parents. From a young age, she displayed a keen interest in all things creative, immersing herself in books, crafting short stories and poems, and indulging in dreamy doodles. A dedicated student, she achieved A averages at the Antigua Girls High School and graduated with the highest honors as valedictorian from ABHTI. The constant push from her father became the starting point for trying to publish her book while she was a teenager. Despite facing setbacks and spiritual challenges, Jewelle persisted and finally fulfilled her dream after five years of hard work. She aspires to use her creativity to give God glory for the kingdom of God.

My Story….

From childhood, my escape was always to the world of books. I could travel though I never took a foot off the ground.

I learned magic, I flew airships, I fought dragons, I cried for a murdered friend, I laughed at a silly clown, I was terrified of the serial killer is the little abandoned hut in the woods…

Reading was my safe place, I read everything and anything. I even became a biblioklept, smuggling books from my school library, even church! Read and imagine…

But I had no control. I ignored family, friends, health, faith, responsibilities, and creativity, so I could devour books. I was a slave to books and the stories was my chain as I fed my lust to know…

I was addicted, depressed, anxious, and running away from God until…

I prayed and pushed, and prayed and pushed, and shed so many tears

and then I wrote.

  • Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

    Matthew 5:16

  • We are just little unknown people trying to live right for God.

    - The Gem’s Pen, 2024

  • Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

    Ecclesiastes 9:10

  • "I'm just a pen in the Holy Spirit's Hand"

    - The Gem’s Pen

  • Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

    Proverbs 3:5-6

  • Don't determine your future from your present circumstances.

    - N.G, 2020

  • There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

    Proverbs 20:15

Follow the journey.
